Heeerrreee's... JOHNNY!!! ... Knoxville?!?!
The Stanley Hotel was built in 1909 and is located in Estes Park, Colorado. This beautiful hotel was vacationed
by the rich and famous throughout it's years including John Philip
Sousa, Theodore Roosevelt, the Emperor and Empress of Japan, and a
variety of Hollywood personalities. This is the hotel that had inspired
Steven King to write the book The Shining.
Frontier Para Con 2012 at the infamous Stanley Hotel was... Amazing? Stupendous? How about I say down-right, crazy, insane, coffee loving kind of fun? That's sounds about right...
Dan and Lara from Haunted Entertainment out did themselves this year. What can I say about them that hasn't already been said before? Professional, friendly and extremely cool para-peeps. Much love to these folks. I am sure we will be working with them a lot in the near future.
Made quite a few connections with some very interesting people. Some in attendance at the event I had known for sometime now, some new friends were made as well. All in all, there is one particular thing that stands out in my mind from this event... It's the ability to get together and to share in a professional, fun loving manner.
So, where do I go from here? The Stanley Hotel was an amazing place for many reasons. The staff was polite, Colorado is a beautiful state, and everyone staying at the hotel was pleasant and upbeat. I did run into a bit of altitude sickness, but it just fogged my mind for about 24 hours or so. Very weird feeling to say the least.
Roaming the halls of the Stanley Hotel has this cool, historical vibe to it. Almost like you've been transported back in time. The elevator looks to be original and even gives you a huge static charge ZAP if you drag your feet on the carpet and push the call button. It's hella funny to watch people using the elevator for the first time. Priceless...
Next up... Donnie(sp?) the security guard of the Stanley Hotel. Let me start by saying this poor guy had to put up with us partying till 7am in the morning on BOTH nights. He ALWAYS had a smile on his face as he asked everyone in an extremely polite manner, "Hey, can you please keep it down? We are getting complaints and you are too loud. Thank you." It was reminiscent of the movie the Breakfast Club. I'll never forget when I rounded a corner of the hallway in the hotel to run into him face to face at 3am in the morning. My first thought was, "Not again..." I'd put money down that he thought the exact same thing when he saw me as well.
Any paranormal activity? Well... not sure. I was sleeping at around 3pm in the afternoon for an hour or so and heard footsteps in my room. That is what actually woke me up from a deep sleep. It almost felt like someone was there in the room with me. It was weird and I recorded it on my iPhone. So, if it seems legit, I will post it at a later date and time. Still need to go over additional video and such as well.
So many cool peeps at this event... Christopher and Phillip Booth, Joe and Kale from ZTalk Radio, Nick, Deb, Scotty, Rosalyn, Chris and Elena, Cass, Justin, Chris, Julie, Kevin, Shelly and everyone else I got to hang with. Love you all. Can't wait to see you all again real soon.
Oh yeah, before I forget... the whole 'Johnny Knoxville' thing is Kale and Joe's from ZTalk Radio's idea. Those 2 guys are freakin' hilarious. If you ever get to meet them, be sure to ask them for a dollar and tell em' I sent you to collect the cash...
Pic time!
